Learning the names of all the frets on your guitar can be very useful if you want to study music theory or learn to read guitar music.  It is not necessary to know the names of all the notes on your guitar as you can play the guitar and write guitar music using tablature.  I recommend that you should learn the names of the frets on the bottom 2 strings on your guitar, the ‘E' sting and the 'A' string.  If you know the names of the notes on the ‘E’ and ‘A' strings you will find some chords including barre chords more easily.
