Guitar scales are essential for learning to improvise, play guitar solos, understanding guitar theory and writing guitar and none music. You might have noticed that there are 2 main sets of scales, the modal scales or classical scales and the Blues scales. The names of the scales are a bit missleading in that both sets of scales are used in all styles of music and quite often are used together and therefore it is a good idea to learn both sets of guitar scales.
