It is a good habit to get into to check wether your guitar is in tune every time you practise or play it. This is not only a good idea because your guitar will sound bad out of tune, but also because it is good for you to get used to the sound of the guitar when it’s in tune. By always practising on a well tuned guitar you'll develop an ear for the guitar notes more quickly and eventually you’ll be able to hear and recognize notes on the guitar without a reference note.
